2019 Leadership Conference

This 1.5 day conference is designed to enhance implementation through sharing of information, resources and tools. Sessions will focus on implementing an equitable multi-level system of supports within schools and districts.

Cost and Registration

Registration for the conference will open on March 1, 2019. The registration cost will be $150 for the conference. If you decide to attend a preconference session, it is an additional $65.

Keynote

Heather Peshak George 
Heather Peshak George is an Associate Professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of South Florida. Dr. George serves as the Co-Principal Investigator and Co-Director of Florida’s PBS:MTSS Project and has been working with the state-funded Project since 2001. She is also a Research Partner with the federally-funded OSEP Technical Assistance Center for Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) and serves as the PBIS Resource Agent for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Puerto Rico, and Texas. She is also PI and Director of Florida’s School Climate Transformation grant and Co-PI and Co-Director of Project TSBA: Tiered System Behavior Analysts, a federally-funded personnel preparation grant. She was elected to the Board of Directors in 2009 and is currently serving as President of the Association for Positive Behavior Support (APBS).

For almost 20 years, Dr. George has provided training and technical assistance in positive behavior supports across individual, classroom, targeted group, and school-wide levels within elementary, middle, high, center, and alternative schools. Much of her professional activity involves coordinating systems change efforts at the local, state and national level to support the implementation of evidence-based practices, particularly in Positive Behavior Support and Response to Intervention. Dr. George teaches at the university level, serves as an Editor for both Preventing School Failure and Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions and is the author of many articles, chapters, technical reports and co-author of internationally used PBIS assessment instruments (Benchmarks of Quality, BoQ; PBS Implementation Checklist, PIC; Benchmarks for Advanced Tiers, BAT; and the Monitoring Advanced Tiers Tool, MATT). Before joining Florida's PBS Project, Dr. George served as the Technical Assistance Coordinator of Louisiana’s state-wide PBS Project. Prior to that time, she served as Administrator for a community-based respite, rehabilitation, and vocational program in Indiana.

Dr. George completed her doctoral training at Louisiana State University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Special Education and School Psychology and her master's in Psychology at Indiana State University. Her areas of interest include positive behavior support, school-wide discipline, systems-level change, implementation processes, and function-based behavior support planning.
